So remember when Blizzard announced that it was starting a community council for World of Warcraft that would hand-picked by Blizzard directly to represent community feedback? The short version is that it almost immediately seemed like a bad idea, but that’s hardly a reason to alter or change your plans, apparently. The community council forums have just been launched, and here’s the important part: They are not anonymous and one of the first pinned threads on the forum asks the hand-picked council members to introduce themselves on these public-viewable forums.

The purpose of this forum is to provide a more concise voice for the player base and to open lines of communication with the developers of World of Warcraft. The World of Warcraft team can’t hope to speak with all of their millions of players. By pulling players of different races, creeds, and focuses within the game, they hope to use the Community Council as a mouthpiece to speak with that represents all facets of Warcraft's diverse community.

Applications to join the Community Council have been closed, but may open again in the future once more members are required if people stop using the forums or after the one-year time limit is up.

Players will continue to receive invites over the next few days if selected and granted access to post on these community forums.

Fortunately, no one has ever harassed anyone else over things they do not like about WoW.

Some players are pleasantly surprised by the Community Council thus far. Since its launch, many constructive threads have been buzzing with activity.
